Will.i.am Doesn’t Support Michael Jackson’s New Album

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson

It’s confirmed that Michael Jackson will be releasing a new album with unreleased recordings of songs, but with the King of Pop gone, will you be buying it?

Will.i.am doesn’t think so, and believes that the album being released without Michael Jackson to add his magic will not be the same. “I don’t think that should ever come out. That’s bad. He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?” said Will.i.am, who has done many collaborations with MJ himself. More importantly the re-release of the Thriller album back in 2008, where he and other members of the Black Eyed Peas group remixed some of Michael Jackson’s popular songs.

Do you agree with Will.i.am? While working with Michael, he realized how particular Jackson was with his music, and paid attention to all aspects such as vocals and instrumentation.

“Now that he is not part of the process, what are they doing? Why would you put a record out like that? Because he was a friend of mine, I just think that’s disrespectful. What’s wrong with what he already contributed to the world?” Continue reading…

Rihanna On Cover Of Seventeen

Rihanna Magazine Cover

Rihanna Magazine Cover

Rihanna’s latest album, Rated R hasn’t exactly been filled with butterflies and rainbows. At least not the colorful ones, and it’s great to see that she’s getting in touch with nature on the cover of teen fashion magazine, Seventeen.

The trend in Rihanna’s music videos has so far been military like in Hard and Russian Roulette, or sleezy like in Rude Boy or Te Amo. The album is supposed to tell of her life and how it is literally Rated R.

This 22 year-old girl had a lot to share:

Emotional Growth: “There’s a balance in my life that wasn’t there before. It’s a really different peace, a different energy.” Continue reading…

Chris Brown’s Memorable BET Performance

Chris Brown's Michael Jackson Tribute

Chris Brown's Michael Jackson Tribute

Sunday was a very special day, as it was the night of the 2010 BET Awards. There was much going on, and the host of the awards show, Queen Latifah made it very interesting with her various acts and clothes.

There were many performances from the biggest artists and BET stars to date. The lineup included those from Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Diddy – Dirty Money, Drake, Trey Songz, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Marvin Sapp, T.I., Kanye West, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Eminem, T-Pain, Kim Burrell, Yolands Adams, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and Karen Clark Sheard.

The one that was probably most memorable in people’s minds was Chris Brown, who did a tribute to Michael Jackson. Continue reading…

Rdio Music Service Demo & Beta Invites

Rdio Music Service

Rdio Music Service

Rdio is a new music service for listening, downloading, and syncing your collection of music. It is so new that it’s not even out yet, so using my beta account I decided to give you a walk-through of the service. You can find the video below or on our YouTube channel.

You should also be happy to know that you will be able to test this service out yourself and start using it free for 3 days. You can of course get a subscription that prices at around $10 a month for all platforms (web, desktop, mobile & ability to sync) but you can also get the $5 monthly plan if you only plan to use the web version.

To get a beta invite from us instead of waiting for them to email you, simply post in the comments area below and say that you want a beta account. Include your email address and we will choose 10 random people. To add a little fun to the mix, include “Rdio Me!” in your comment.

Overall my first impressions of the service are very good. Rather than just creating what everyone expect from a music listening/download service, they added in a lot of social features such as reviews, seeing what your friends are listening to, sharing songs, and so on. Continue reading…

Thoughts On Lady GaGa’s Alejandro Premiere

Lady GaGa: Alejandro

Lady GaGa: Alejandro

It seems like the pop diva Lady GaGa has a story to tell in each one of her music videos, and yet it is hard to find out the exact message. Poker Face was cute and playful, Bad Romance showed GaGa’s view at love, and Telephone was weird yet misunderstood, was GaGa hooking up with Beyonce or something?

Out of all her past music videos however, Alejandro is probably the most controversial. The video premiered today and is already up on most music sites, including UE Music and VEVO. GaGa explains the video to be a “celebration and an admiration of gay love – it confesses my envy of the courage and bravery they require to be together.”

So the music video is “homoerotic” as most people say, and is based on a military theme, but we all know how much respect Lady GaGa has for the gay community, and vice versa. We did not however expect a video that is mostly for the mature audience that includes half naked men in tight underwear. Continue reading…

Barack Obama In Old Hip-Hop Video?

Video Screenshot

Video Screenshot

Before I start, let me warn you: this is not about Obama’s policies or getting some health care bill passed. Actually, it’s about a lookalike or maybe the big man himself being in the popular “Whoomp! There It Is” music video. I know, crazy right?

The hit 92.3 NOW radio station recently posted on their website,

“This morning on Rollin’, Nick tackled the interesting situation regarding the recent internet gossip of our president Barack Obama being in a music video from back in the day.

The music video is the 1993 hit from Tag Team called “Whoomp! There It Is” and a person believed to be Barack Obama is seen in a clip.” Continue reading…

Diddy Talks His New Album

Diddy - Dirty Money

Diddy - Dirty Money

Diddy, firstly known as Puff Daddy has been very busy lately. He’s been mostly hyping up about his new upcoming album, Last Train To Paris by his Diddy – Dirty Money collaboration.

The fans are definitely expecting a lot from this album, which is set to have Drake, Chris Brown, Lil’ Wayne, Swizz Beatz, T.I. and Rick Ross, and Justin Timberlake on the set which was announced yesterday during a press conference announcing the BET Award nominations for which Diddy – Dirty Money is up for Best Group.

The rapper also is planning his movie, Get Him To The Greek where he announced special appearances from the set of the album, including Lil’ Wayne. Diddy talks about Wayne’s imprisonment, saying “I think we gonna miss a certain energy that Wayne has. The beauty about it is, he’ll be back, and hopefully he’ll come back a better person. Whenever we get in trouble, we’re in the public spotlight. So hopefully there’s a lot of kids out there who could learn from any mistakes that we may have put ourselves in, even if we’re not guilty of the crime sometimes.” Maybe Diddy might have a job in motivational speaking, but for now we await for what he has in store for the near future.
