The Last Airbender
So yes, this article is way overdue and I meant to post it sometime last week but I got hung up on other things. Let’s get into this though, I saw The Last Airbender and I’ve had a lot of mixed opinions about it when I came out of the theater. Even during the movie I had a hard time believing what I was seeing. It was a good movie don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t understand how they could take the great and popular TV show and turn it into something so much worse.
If you didn’t figure out by now, the movie was based on a cartoon show called Avatar: The Last Airbender and had a lot of comedy, the characters were fun, and had a greatly addicting storyline. Continue reading…

Dre Parker & Mr. Han
The Karate Kid. As you may know, there was an original one that was released in 1984 and it was a definite classic. Two more followed to make it a series and I will never forget Daniel and Mr. Miyagi.
The new one that was released just yesterday stars Jaden Smith (yes, Will Smith’s son) as Dre Parker who is meant to play the role of Daniel from the original movie. Jackie Chan stars as Mr. Han which of course is the role of the great Mr. Miyagi. They both definitely had a lot of chemistry going on when it came to acting and making every single scene believable. The big question here is, was The Karate Kid of today better than the classic that everyone came to love? Also if you never cared about the first, was the new one a great movie in general? The Karate Kid
Alright so the summer’s coming fast and school’s almost over, or already over for many students. I have finals in two weeks or so which means a lot of studying… okay I’m playin’ but if you’re wondering what to do this summer, how about some movies? Call up some people and get ready for these hits, which are bound to be action-packed (or whatever genre you’re into).
The top movies that I think will be great hits this summer are The Karate Kid, The Last Airbender, and Grown Ups, The Karate Kid is sort of a remake of the original classic, but will star Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. The Last Airbender is based on a hit tv show cartoon and it’ll be cool to see how they do with the bending effects. Grown Ups will be a great comedy because Adam Sandler always cracked me up. California Gurls Song
The MTV Music Awards will be a live event this Summer in Los Angeles, California hosted by Aziz Ansari. Great news has been announced recently that Katy Perry as well as a plethora of other music artists will be performing as well. Katy is said to be performing her single “California Gurls” which is a song that features Snoop Dogg and was inspired by Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.” It’s from her upcoming album Teenage Dream and she stated, “Everybody was holding their drinks in the air and dancing, and I thought, ‘We’re not in New York, we’re in Los Angeles! What about California? What about all the homies, the gin and juice, the swaying palm trees, the sun-kissed skin 24-7.’ I decided that we needed to make a response. I want people to want to book a ticket to California the first time they hear it!” Perry also gave a reason to Snoop being on the track, saying, “We thought it would sound so cool and give the song another dimension. Snoop is as West Coast as it gets.”

Iron Man 2 Poster
I just saw Iron Man 2 today, and I have some thoughts that I’d like to share. First, let me explain Iron Man and what it is, for those of you who never saw the movie. You can skip to the 3rd paragraph if you are familiar with the movie. There’s this smart guy who goes by the name of Tony Stark, and his whole life was dedicated to learning technology and building things. Today, he owns one of the biggest weapon companies, Stark Industries. It was first started by his father, Howard Stark who had a vision for the world where technology helps everyone and make the world a better place.
When Stark is taken captive, he learns how his weapons are not just used for peace, but instead for evil. He builds the first Iron Man suit, which is a crude prototype but nonetheless powerful and destroys the place he was held captive, as well as his own weapons that ended up there. He then improves the suit, and becomes Iron Man, a type of superhero that everyone seem to accept.
Iron Man 2, obviously continues Tony Stark’s story of him being Iron Man. The problem however is that the government and military think it should belong to them, it being considered as a “weapon.” Stark however wins his court case by hacking into the system and showing videos of how countries are creating their own Iron Man prototypes, which are causing many accidents. I do not want to give the whole plot away, so I’ll speed through this. Whiplash, who is never actually referred to as such in the movie, builds his own suit, except it’s mostly just the same technology as Iron Man without the whole suit complexity, and has power “whips.” He seems to hate Iron Man for what his father has done, so wants to get revenge against him and builds and a whole line of suits, using them as weapons and causing chaos. Whiplash from Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2 has been getting a lot of buzz lately, especially with all the new things destined for excitement in this upcoming movie. Some may argue that the first Iron Man did not have many special effects, or as great of a plot to be told. These arguments may be proven to be false in the sequel, and you can get a few sneak peekswith these exclusive clips.
What you will see first is a scene from the Monaco Grand Prix with Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man competing in the race. He however gets interrupted by the arrival of Ivan Vanko, better known as Whiplash. The cool thing about this Whiplash guy is his electric bullwhips, which are forces not to be dealt with. Iron Man learns this the hard way by having to face him head on, however his suite is not a match for him. On the topic of Stark’s suit, it is now portable which means you will see him actually transform into Iron Man right on the race track. Continue reading…

Avatar Poster
James Cameron has created many worlds for us movie goers. From the never-ending romance of Titanic to the nuclear underwater adventure in The Abyss, it’s no surprise that Avatar 2 will take place in the oceans of the moons on Pandora.
Avatar had a gross sum of over $2.7 billion all around the world. It captured every single person that has watched the movie, and absorbed them into the world of Pandora. It took place in a luscious rainforest of a network of plants and of course, the Na’vi themselves.
The sequel however, to be named Avatar 2: The Abyss has been talked about ever since the release of the first film will take place on another moon that surrounds the gas planet of Polyphemus. Cameron told the LA Times, “Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment — a different setting within Pandora and I’m going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rain forest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll see more of that as well.” James Cameron also said that he wants to explore the many other moons of Pandora, but we will probably have to wait for Avatar 3 for that, if it will come to be. Chloe Grace (Hit-Girl)
I bet that by now, you’ve probably heard of Chloe Grace, otherwise known as Hit-Girl from the movie Kick-Ass. The interesting part is that the movie is rated R, and Chloe is just a pre-teen.
In the movie, you see her swearing like a sailor while kicking butts and taking names. She isn’t the main star of Kick-Ass, true, but her age has definitely sparked up a lot of talk about her. Yahoo! reports that searches for “chloe moretz” has increased by a mind blowing 3,423% in the past 24 hours, putting her up there in the top 250 overall search terms.
Chloe does seem to have a lot of acting talent however, so props to her for that. As her superhero face, Hit-Girl, she can also really move with great skill and makes the movie more interesting to watch. Continue reading…

I don’t watch many Indian movies, okay that’s a lie I watch no Indian movies but this one has a great plot and moves away from what you’re used to from Bollywood. You know what I’m talking about, when the whole movie is about romance and drama and is just too over-acted. I do have to point out that this is mostly in Hindi (which I only know a few words in), but it’s worth it and the subtitles don’t take away from the experience. Continue reading…

There is nothing worse than being bored to death during the holidays. The answer? Some free movies brought especially from one of my favorite sites, Hulu. Not only are movies a great way to spend time with your family, but the holiday season always brings this feeling of appreciation for this magic that we don’t have the other times of the year. Please realize that most of these are showing for limited times only, so don’t miss out! Continue reading…
